PROGRAM 2024

Diversity and variety trump this multicultural folk festival between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. with a colorful food village, performances from various corners of the world and worldly entertainment for young and old.

Highline of 350 meters!

The top attraction this year during the minehappening and unseen at be-MINE is the arrival of top highliner Jef Cox. You will see him balancing on a tightrope between the shaft towers at be-MINE and he will do three crossings of no less than 350 meters from the shaft trestle to Adventure Mountain. Not to be missed!

Divercité Food Market

That Beringen chooses diversity with the Mine Happening is, of course, no coincidence. After all, Beringen has a beautiful mining heritage and miners came from everywhere: good for a diverse range of nationalities. Even today, many associations are bringing out this multicultural character: Philipino vzw (Filipino), Dogus (Turkish), AITEF (Italian), Imana vzw (Burundian), Tajik Associaton in Belgium (Tajik), Scouts Beringen-Mijn (Belgian), Semersah (Turkish), Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (Pakistani), Union of Active Associations (Turkish), Social Project Limburg vzw (Turkish).

Divercité snuistermartkt

Associations that do not offer food will also have a nice place at the mine happening. At the Divercité snuistermarkt you can get to know them and discover what they have to offer: Bindus, Lafa, BIF, IKO vzw, Dienst Samenleven, Fire Department Beringen, Purity For India and Nepal, vzw Fatima for Gambia, Sociaal Project Limburgse vzw, Oxfam Wereldwinkel, Rode Kruis.

Event Square

Thick party on the event plaza. A variety of Rockaybilly and Blues on the main stage. With cozy terraces around it and fun entertainment.

Mining Experience

11 a.m. – 6 p.m. – Open mine buildings with experience walk (from Province of Limburg)

Visit the bath hall building at be-MINE one last time before the works break ground for the construction of the Limburg mining experience center ‘Mineset’? Get a glimpse of what the future holds? And meet the designers, architects and contractors themselves live? You can do so in the mine buildings at the Mineset Happening (access via stairwell of bath hall building). Both via the expo on the making-of of Mineset and via a walk through the buildings. There is also a mine trail for children to explore.

Mining Museum

Visit the Mining Museum and discover the fascinating story of mining history in Limburg. The Mining Museum can be visited at a rate of 4 euros per person.

Guided tour “be-MINE & be-NATURE”

A guide will take you through the story of be-MINE and its repurposing. What was a vast moor 120 years ago is today a repurposed industrial site. Nature has never been far away on the site and is even central today with the re-NATURE principle and the conversion of the coal washes to be-NATURE. The guide gives special attention to this from a safe distance from the works but also explains about it in Coal Laundry 4 which is ready for its own repurposing.

Pre-registration is appropriate and can be done by emailing visit@beringen.be stating your name + “tour Myhappening” + number of people + your chosen time slot.

Price: free

Time slots: tours start at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Benelux record attempt ‘Golf ball marble course’ at Adventure Mountain

Everyone has ever played with marbles and built marble tracks. During the Mine Happening, we are going for a record and the longest marble track in the Benelux will be built on the flank of the Adventure Mountain. Golf balls will replace the marbles. Buy your own golf ball and try to qualify for the grand finale at 5 p.m.!

Todi

At Todi you will discover a wonderful underwater world. The diving school will introduce you to diving. If you would like to go underwater yourself, you can snorkel. Beware: you may encounter mermaids.

Kids romp around and have fun at the track square. Here you will find the coolest obstacle courses, bouncy castles, workshops and carnival rides.

Arts and crafts market

Stroll past the many stalls at the arts and crafts market with the unique mine buildings in the background.

Animation

During minehappening, you experience so much and more. Here and there you will bump into street performers or stand in amazement at a living statue. Enjoy.

At Velotril, the doors are open and you can test bikes (noon – 6 p.m.).

Sportoase

Lots to do at Sportoase be-MINE. There is the well-known mascot, children’s entertainment and you will discover the sports on offer.

Want to shoot in action yourself? Then be sure to join one of the outdoor classes. You can choose from Yoga and Tai Chi. Participation is free. Registration is required to ensure your spot!
