be-MINE has so much to offer that the full range cannot be summarized on one page. Young or old, sporty or rather a bon vivant, in a group or with the family, the historic mine site in Beringen has something for everyone.

The mining museum immerses you in Limburg’s mining past. Climb the small mining ridge, which has been transformed into a spectacular adventure mountain. In the mood for action? Come climb, swim, snorkel or dive. Prefer cycling or walking? Explore be-MINE and follow the coal trail or trek through the historic mining town.

Around be-MINE is the mining citadel with its typical houses, its beautiful squares, a mining cathedral….
𝗛𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗻, once a prestigious servants’ quarter, is now the region’s most beautiful little square. The typical mine houses and gardens have been preserved.
𝗗𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝘁-𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘂𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗸, also known as the Mine Cathedral, was built between 1939 and 1943 in neo-Byzantine style. The dark galleries in front of the entrance symbolize the underground mining infrastructure.
𝗛𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗸𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗿. In 1912, a “little castle” was built for the then mine director. Due to a fire, only the outer walls remain. The 5ha park, with French and English gardens, was completely renovated in 2000 and can be visited freely.
But numerous other attractions are also close by : the recreation resort ‘t Fonteintje, the Paalse Plas, Blueberry Fields, Cycling through the trees, Cycling through the Water….

Learning, working and living
be-MINE is home to school Straf! School with guts. The school houses a kindergarten and elementary school. On the former Houtpark you will find two apartment blocks. In the near future, Houtpark will be developed entirely as a residential center. A number of mine buildings have been repurposed as office space such as United Experts and Vestal Communications.
