Living on be-MINE

be-MINE has been given a sustainable repurposing through a mix of functions – cultural, recreational, tourism – and is being integrated into the urban environment by adding functions such as housing, offices, education, hospitality and retail. This makes be-MINE unique compared to other heritage sites of similar size.

School

Punishment! The school with guts!

The letters of “Punishment” stand for “together, future, space, different and proud,” respectively. The ant in the logo represents cooperation, hard work and building. The school wants to be a warm (ant) nest where everyone feels at home. Punishment, right?

Residential care center

Trace Park

Sporenpark is a sprawling residential care campus in a green setting overlooking the old mining sites and within walking distance of the village center of Beringen-Mijn.

Living

Come live at Houtpark

The first phase of the Houtpark project includes 40 sustainable homes, built with a wooden frame and finished with high-quality materials.

They will be true gems that blend in architecturally with the existing mining houses! In addition, a park will be laid out in which the willow will play a prominent role.

Like the willow, other indigenous plants will be preserved according to the already familiar re-nature principle. And a new footpath will be laid out along the current cycle path so that cyclists and walkers do not get in each other’s way.

A WADI will be created in the center of the park, similar to the wadis behind Todi. This zone will be a dynamic place where water management and play go hand in hand.

Willow Park is certainly worth a visit!
